In response to human rights violations, the restriction of freedoms, and the military aggression of authoritarian regimes, civic initiatives are emerging. Despite pressure and repression, they confront these phenomena, oppose the fury of war, help those in need, and address problems ignored by the regimes. Their activities are often semi-legal or illegal out of necessity, with minimal or no support or resources.

However, they are the cornerstone of regime change, which is unthinkable without an active civil society.
