MONITORING THE RUSSIAN RESISTANCE MOVEMENT

We do not evaluate the political or strategic ambitions of individual organizations; we only map their activities, record structures, and analyze links between groups and key actors.

Connections and actions of the resistance movement

Since the beginning of the invasion, resistance networks have been forming in Russia, Ukraine, and in exile. The Eight Brave Ones project maps their actors, connections, and activities.

CIVIC INITIATIVES

We can follow the individual threads of partisan initiatives operating in Russia and Belarus, military volunteer units in Ukraine, and political and civic groups, whether in Russia or in exile.

The rays represent the diversity of groups and activities of these brave individuals, while the converging threads represent their common goal: the fall of the criminal regime, a free Ukraine – and ultimately, their free homelands.

The threads of determined Russian resistance groups lead primarily to Russia and Ukraine, as it is there that the fate of other countries is also being decided.

Looking at it from the other side and seeing where our initiatives emerge, we unsurprisingly find that it is in Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Russia itself – and especially in those parts that perceive Moscow’s dominance and the installed leadership as an occupation.

United Resistance Front

The SFO is a strategic alliance formed in June 2024 as a common platform for all resistance organizations and figures, now aiming to overthrow the Putin regime, establish a democratic government in Russia, and grant nations the right to self-determination. The association is decentralized, as decentralization provides the highest level of security for the resistance and increases the movement's efficiency, as each initiative has a unique approach to the struggle and employs various methods.

RUSSIANS WHO ARE NOT SILENT

Let’s push the Russian resistance into public debate. Let’s thumb our noses at the Russian regime and our own prejudices. If we talk and write about them – and if there are many of us – it will be harder for propaganda. And that is already something.

Every bit counts.

Alphabetical database of units

More and more newly emerging initiatives are joining the fight against Russian aggression. They act as volunteers in Ukraine, are present in Belarus and Georgia, support the resistance movement from exile, unite, and cooperate with Ukraine and each other.
