The underground initiative Coalition calls for stronger representation of the subjugated indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation on the international stage. In this regard, it sent an official letter to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, proposing the leader of Free Circassia, Ibragim Yaganov, as its representative to PACE.
The Coalition sent an official letter to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE); in it, it called for stronger and broader representation of the subjugated and indigenous peoples of the Russian Federation on the international stage.
In its appeal, the coalition spoke on behalf of representatives and supporters of nations and regional communities deprived of a functional right to self-determination, emphasizing the need for their voices regarding systemic human rights violations, repression, and the suppression of national, cultural, and political identities to be heard in Europe.
The letter also states that the coalition is prepared to delegate its official representative to PACE—Ibragim Yaganov, an elected and trusted individual—with a mandate from the signatories of the letter.
We are convinced that the participation of representatives of subjugated and indigenous peoples in the work of PACE will contribute to a more objective understanding of processes in the post-imperial space and to the strengthening of democratic values, human rights, and international law in Europe.
The Coalition views this appeal as an important step toward international recognition of the right of nations to self-determination and will continue to strive for their full political representation through peaceful and democratic means.
✊ We continue the fight for the freedom, dignity, and voice of our nations.
SUPPORT OUR WORK
We make the Russian resistance movement visible.
The EIGHT BRAVE SOULS project maps and visualizes the activities and connections of the Russian resistance movement. Let’s push this topic into public debate. Let’s thumb our noses at the Russian regime and our own prejudices. When we talk and write about them—and when there are many of us—Russian propaganda will have a harder time. And that is already something. Every bit counts.
