Exile Parliament of Independent Tatarstan

The exile structures were established by national activists in response to Russia's recognition of the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in 2008. At that time, Tatar representatives declared that Tatarstan had the same right to independence based on the successful 1992 sovereignty referendum. Due to the repressive regime, members of the organization were forced to move abroad. Today, the government in exile operates from various democratic countries around the world.
