MAGNIFICENT EIGHT: monitoring the resistance movement against the Russian regime
Since the first days of the Russian aggression against Ukraine—and in some cases long before—groups and individuals united by their determination to resist this aggression have been joining the defending Ukrainians. Even inside Russia, many have refused to accept the role of bystanders, and a number of active initiatives have emerged.
Behind every logo or chevron are real people. Our goal is not to judge them or their motivations and methods. We are mapping the process by which civic dissent transforms into a liberation struggle under totalitarianism.
Those we wrote articles about in the spring of 2022 now have a broad base of supporters, a unified design, and a press department. That is why we write about them less now. Our goal is to raise awareness of those initiatives and personalities that are being forgotten. We do not think, for example, that the Freedom of Russia Legion does not deserve all the support it can get—on the contrary! But we are no longer alone in this, as we were in 2022.
So we write more about those for whom we are still on our own. And we look forward to THEIR press department. 😉

We thank everyone who has participated or is participating in the development of our project through interest and favor, financial support, sharing, invention, advice, and help—in short, everyone who does not remain indifferent. Your help and tolerance are invaluable. The significance of our project—and others like it—far exceeds the authors with all their shortcomings. For that, we thank those who fight despite everything.
for your freedom and ours
