Memorandum of Cooperation:
Caucasus Union | In the Name of Georgia | Freedom of Russia
Memoranda
The organizations In the Name of Georgia and the Caucasus Union have announced the signing of memoranda and declared cooperation with the Russian opposition political movement Freedom of Russia. According to the published documents, this is the first instance where Georgian and Caucasian organizations have entered into a formal political agreement with a Russian anti-Putin force, under strictly defined conditions: the rejection of Moscow’s imperial policy and the recognition of the territorial integrity of Georgia and other territories threatened or subjugated by Russia.
In the Name of Georgia Movement
The declaration signed between the In the Name of Georgia movement and Freedom of Russia contains several key points: support for the territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders, recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia as parts of Georgia, the demand for the withdrawal of Russian military forces from these territories, and the recognition of Russia’s military aggression against Georgia. The document also envisages the establishment of an international commission to assess damages and a mechanism for future compensation after the fall of the current Russian regime.
The In the Name of Georgia movement described the signing of the declaration as a historical precedent and stated that dialogue with any Russian political force is only possible on the condition of recognizing Georgia’s territorial integrity and accountability for war crimes committed during the conflicts in 1991 and 2008.
Caucasus Union
A separate memorandum was also announced by the Caucasus Union, which stated that it has established official cooperation with a Russian anti-Putin organization for the first time.
According to the statement, cooperation is only possible with those forces in Russia that reject imperial policy, support the freedom and self-determination of the peoples of the Caucasus, and are prepared to bear responsibility for the actions of the Russian state.
The Caucasus Union emphasized that the memorandum is not based on trust toward Russia as a state, but on specific political principles, including the de-occupation of the region, support for the independence and security of Caucasian nations, and collective resistance to the current regime of Vladimir Putin.
SUPPORT OUR WORK
We make the Russian resistance movement visible.
The EIGHT BRAVE project maps and visualizes the activities and connections of the Russian resistance movement. Let’s push this topic into public debate. Let’s thumb our noses at the Russian regime and our own prejudices. When we talk and write about them—and when there are many of us—it will be harder for Russian propaganda. And that is already something. Every bit counts.
