A former warrant officer of the Russian Armed Forces, he was recalled to the army after the outbreak of the hot phase. He organized sabotage operations in occupied territories and eventually crossed the front lines with secret documents from his unit to join the Freedom of Russia Legion. Along the way, he helped two Ukrainian paratroopers, who had been cut off from their fellow soldiers, escape from occupied territory.
